172d AW and 186th ARW make high connections over Mississippi

The 186th Air Refueling Wing’s KC-135 Stratotanker and the 172d Airlift Wings C-17 Globemaster III performed Air Refueling over central Mississippi, Aug. 3, 2013. The aircraft performed the first aerial refueling mission of the 186th Air R...efueling Wing after the return of the refueling mission to Key Field Air National Guard Base, the birth place of air refueling. The C-17 Globemaster team included Lt Col Joelee Sessions, Maj Joshua Christian, 2d Lt Nicolas Dilmore, Maj Louis Grones, CMSgt Johnny Gressett, and SSgt Jeremy Jones. First-term airmen spring forward at retreat.

A group of Miss. Air National Guardsmen receive instruction at Camp Shelby's Air to Ground Range control tower during the first-term Airmen retreat that took place on 6 April 2013. After just purchasing their new auto, the Medley family stands with key personnel who helped them through a very difficult time with their vehicle following the deployment of Master Sgt. Terry Medley. The Medleys were able to purchase the vehicle from Sellers Chevy in Purvis, Miss. Included in the photo (from left to right) is the owner of the dealership, Brig Gen. Mississippi was the first!

The Mississippi Air National Guard's 172d Airlift Wing carries out it's gobal airlift mission with the tremendous work provided by its award-winning Airmen and its fleet of nine C-17 Globemaster Aircraft. When the wing first received this large cargo aircraft in 2004, Mississippi became the first state to have one of it's National Guard units acquire this cargo aircraft.

The 2012 trip to the North Pole marked the 7th year in a row that the 172d has made the magical trip to the North Pole.

A Sign of the Times from the 172nd AW
