Another Amazing Flight to the North Pole Published Dec. 21, 2012 By TSgt Ed Staton 172d AW 21 December 2012 -- The Mississippi Air National Guard's 172d Airlift Wing hosted its 7th annual Flight to the North Pole on Thursday, December 13th. Wing personnel teamed up with Y101, Brown Bottling Group, the Brain Injury Association and the Salvation Army for the big event that culminated with nearly 60 Angel Tree children dashing to Santa's workshop. With Santa, Mrs. Claus and many elves greeting the C-17 when it arrived at the North Pole, the children received a Christmas they will never forget. Once they arrived at Santa's Private Hanger, the children were escorted by Santa's elves and received their gifts from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Each child also received a bicycle and helmet donated by local residents and enjoyed other special activities. With lots of hugs and kisses and Santa's magic pixie dust, the children were back at home in a dash.
