Members of the 172d Airlift Wing received 'excellent' news at the ORI brief that was held at Thompson Field on Wednesday Nov. 7, 2012. Air Mobility Command IG inspection team personnel were on hand to present an overall "excellent" Operational Readiness Inspection grade while announcing the graded results to Mississippi Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Augustus L. Collins, 172d Commander Brig. Gen. William J. Crisler and wing members.

"Your wing is the only excellent ORI I've given in a year and a half on this team," said AMC IG team lead, Col. John Quinn. "It is glaringly obvious that this wing is unique. Your attitude, your pride, your cohesiveness together as a team is something you don't see in every wing. Not even close."

Along with its overall excellent grade, the wing received 14 team awards, nine individual certificates of recognition and nine inspector general coins.

"Units don't make themselves excellent. People make themselves excellent," Mag. Gen. Collins said to the gathered personnel. "Let me say as the adjutant general of this state, how proud I am of the marks you've received today and congratulations on a job well done."

The 172d AW completed the ORI held at Volk Field, WI in October 2012. The inspection tests the wing's ability to successfully mobilize and support major combat operations.

"Our team received more team awards, coins and individual recognition than the last three wing ORIs combined," said Brig. Gen. Crisler. "We did a tremendous job in every area and I could not be more proud of each of you."
