The 172d Airlift Wing has a chaplain corps staff that provides spiritual care and the opportunity for Airmen and their families, and other authorized personnel to exercise their constitutional right to the free exercise of religion. Along with chapel services held at 0800 on Sunday mornings of UTA weekends, the chaplains are also available for inidvidual counseling.

Members of the 172d Airlift Wing's Fire Department Engine No. 6 crash team discuss strategy during the incident command response exercise. An incident command response exercise for the 172d Airlift Wing took place on August 4, 2015. The 172d AW Security Forces immediately responded to the exercise scenario that involved a vehicle losing control at the main gate. The out of control vehicle splashed into the pond and a passenger was trapped. Security Forces alerted the base fire department and crash teams arrived to carry out rescue operations as an incident command post was established.

The flavorful event was held on July 11, 2015. More than 50 members of the wing's CE squadron are deploying.

The 172d Airlift Wing held its largest Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) graduation ceremony on Sunday, November 2, 2014 with over 60 graduates. The graduates included enlisted members from the 172 Maintenance Group, 172d Medical Group, 172d Mission Support Group, 172d Operations Group, 172d Airlift Group, Joint Forces State Headquarters, CRTC, 255th Air Control Squadron and the 209th Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron. The Wing was honored to have CMSgt David R. Staton, Command Chief Master Sergeant, Second Air Force, Keesler Air Force base as the keynote speaker. Chief Staton quoted “this group was as large as an active duty CCAF ceremony but he had never seen this many family members come out in support of one”. He commended the Wing on a job well done. 172d Airlift Wing Maintenance Group member, Master Sgt. Brian Kennedy (left) has has been named the Air National Guard's 2013 CMSAF Thomas N. Barnes Crew Chief of the Year Award winner.  Kennedy is shown being congratulated by 172d Vice Wing Commander, Col Tommy Tillman.  The announcement marks the first time that a Mississippi National Guardsmen has won the award.

The 172d Airlift Wing's TSgt James Lott has been named the FY 2013 Rookie Recruiter of the Year by NGB. The tremendous award follows Lott being named the Region 3 which consists of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, The Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
